President’s Message
Bruce Jorgensen
Many visitors to Lake Forest marvel at our beautiful community. They are also amazed to learn that our city government is comprised of dedicated volunteers. All the members of our boards and commissions, two school board districts, and city council – including the mayor, volunteer their time and expertise to make our city such a great place to live.
The Lake Forest Caucus has been in existence for over 75 years. Our single mission is to identify, interview, and recommend candidates to the Mayor of Lake Forest for the over 140 appointed positions for the boards and commissions that guide our city. In addition, the Caucus slates candidates for our two school boards, our aldermanic positions, and the mayor. All registered voters residing in Lake Forest are members of the Caucus. Lake Forest consists of four wards. Nine members from each ward make up the Caucus Committee. In addition, an Executive Committee comprised of six members makes your Caucus 42 members strong.
The Caucus has term limits, with each member serving one three year term. We are a cross section of the community and turn over approximately one-third of our membership each year. Therefore, it is essential that the Caucus receives a continual influx of new volunteers. We look to you to join us in maintaining the excellence of our city government. It has been a honor to serve as President of the Caucus. I welcome all of you to visit our website, www.lfcaucus.com, to learn more about the Caucus and fill out a Volunteer Profile Sheet. Thanks for your interest in the welfare of our community .
